Curse or blessing?

Today my job was eliminated. So was my boss's job... so I guess it wasn't just me.

My plan is to spend mornings looking for work, and most afternoons working on Mysterious Paris. If I'm lucky, I'll land a job when my novel is ready to send to agents. Ambitious, eh?

And, perhaps as a sign that I'm supposed to be writing, I received a second copy of Chris Baty's book today. They did a second printing of No Plot? No Problem, and now the sidebars have a much paler grey background.

I think it's great that you're thinking of this as an opportunity to write, rather than a terrible setback. I hope it works out for you exactly as you hope!

Well, between severance, UI, and savings, I have a little while before panic sets in. So, I might as well make the most of it.

oh no! i'm sorry to hear your job was eliminated. it could very well be a blessing, and with your experience i'm sure you'll be snapped up by another company in no time.

if i see anything i'll pass it along.

Thanks for the thoughts! And now that I'm in the market again, maybe I'll see more things to pass your way.

Oh my! I'm sorry to hear that and you sound rather more composed than I would be if it were me in the same situation.

I'm sure you'll find something quickly once you start looking and have some fun working on your novel while you have the time!

I found out first thing in the morning, and only posted at night.... many hours to become more composed.

True. A few hours would make some difference. I think I'd need a few days to stop freaking out and think things through.

I was wondering why I received a second copy. I haven't opened it yet.

That sounds like a great plan for approaching your between-jobs period. And given your skills and competency, I can't imagine you'll be looking for that long.
