Editing, writing

Last night was the first 2004 meeting of Edit This Toronto. We exchanged our first 10 pages or so with two different people. For me, this was my first chapter... and the first time anyone but me has read the chapter.

I got some favourable comments, which was very nice. I especially enjoyed having my style described as "modern Victorian". It was something I didn't expect... but as I read a lot of Victorian literature (both from the time and modern stories set in that time), it doesn't completely surprise me. I'm sure all the negative comments will come when my editors have a chance to give me written feedback.

Today I made the few minor adjustments required for scene 4. Rosie was off-stage for this scene, so I didn't have to do a lot. By the way, to anyone thinking I'm making good progress, my new plot-line has 50 scenes (maybe a couple less). I'm not sure how many chapters, as I only recently started shoving the scenes into chapters. So, I have a lot of work to do. I'll be amazed if I finish in time for February's Edit This Toronto meeting. My personal goal is to finish this draft by the end of February.
