Rogers member homepages changing

Rogers has partnered with Yahoo, for Yahoo to provide content. Some changes have already been made, and others are being phased in.

Potentially one of the least transparent changes is that members.rogers.com pages will all be phased out in January 2005. Members using the webspace (as I am), are supposed to start using our Yahoo Geocities webspace. The old URL will stop working in January 2005 and the new URL will be longer (and include the person's e-mail address). Boo.

And, I don't know if it's still required, but at one time Yahoo included pop-ups with navigation/ads on all web sites. I definitely wouldn't want that on my web site.

I'll have to start looking at the various alternatives, move my web site... and then try to get the links changes in my articles posted on other web sites (and bio posted on other web sites).

If your web page isn't very large (which I can't imagine it being if it fit on the Rogers free hosting), I can host it for you. If you want to spring for a real domain for yourself, I can make it point at a hosted site, also. You can also have POP e-mail and all that jazz if you need it. If you go that route, even if you move away from hosting with me later and get a host of your own, because it's your own domain, you'll never have to worry about updating anything again. (That's the main reason we got our own domain way back when.)

We get 70 megs of space. At least, we used to. This fucking sucks. Here I am on vacation and can't access my email because of this Yahoo changeover thing. What am I paying for again?

I believe we currently have 1.5GB of space on our domain, and we're using about 900MB of it, but we keep talking about cleaning that up.

I can give you 70MB of space no problem, if you want.

The new Yahoo-Rogers e-mail gives you 2 Gb for the primary account and 100 Mb for each additional account.
