In which I cook with Saskatoon berries

Wow, I just realized that it's been a while since I posted. First I'll show you what I cooked a couple of weeks ago. I'll post later about last week's produce.

Saskatoon berries look a bit like blueberries, but the flavor isn't as strong. Some people make jam, but I usually bake with them. This time, I tried them in a custard. Except, I cooked the custard slightly too long and it didn't turn out soft and custardy. It was still dessert.

After I shell all the peas, I realize that I don't have so many. I used the peas and some corn in risotto. I cooked the zucchini with eggs.

Corn on the cob is the best part of summer meals. So much on the plate came from the farm. The potatoes are small, so I mostly cut them up and roast them. I'll wait for bigger potatoes to do anything that requires peeling. I sautéed the chicken with tomatoes, zucchini, and basil.

Did I mention that I get eggs from the farm? They help make salads more filling. I never really think of buying radishes in the supermarket, but I enjoy them in salads, sandwiches, and even stir-fry.

We're now getting summer fruit. Those are our first plums and apricots.

This stir-fry contains shrimp, radishes, onion greens, basil, and garlic. Stir-fry is a great way to combine all sorts of veggies.

Not pictured are green beans, more salads, and a bacon egg lettuce tomato sandwich.
