The rice cookbook includes a recipe that allows only 20 minutes to cook brown basmati rice. That same recipe also increased the amount of liquid by 50%. After 20 minutes, my pot looked like soup... but the rice was still not fully cooked. The instructions on my bad of rice indicate 50 minutes for cooking. After about an hour, the rice was cooked enough to eat, but here's how the pot looked.
If you haven't guessed, I made the recipe for Indian rice with tomatoes and spinach. While eating dinner, I continued to cook the rice. It came out to a better consistency and has been good for left overs.
