Cooking from around the world

Now that I'm almost finished with Microways, I selected the first set of recipes to try from the All Color Encyclopedia of International Cooking. This book isn't as massive as the 1000 Recipes book and has a better index, so I am hopeful.

I'll be trying the following recipes:
* Carrot soup
* Green beans with sesame and miso (Japan)
* Potatoes sauteed with onions (France)
* Tuna and spiral pasta casserole
* Tuna steak with wine and bacon (Portugal)

Flags identify the countries for many recipes in this book. However, a good number of recipes are marked with a blue star. The book considers this an "international" label. The carrot soup contains some ingredients that I didn't expect and might be inspired by recipes from different countries. The tuna casserole seems like a refined version of the American tuna casserole.

My kitchen shelf is looking a lot better now that it's not swamped with so many books.
