Pasta with mushrooms and tomato sauce

I love mushrooms, but this recipe wasn't as awesome as I hoped. I suspect the problem is that the "from scratch" tomato sauce in this book just isn't that great. It's not cooked any longer than prepared sauce, which means that it just doesn't have the depth of flavor - more of a light tomato flavoring than a sauce.

I'm not really one for mushrooms in tomato sauce, I mean, I throw them in when I make spaghetti to add vegetables, but mostly butter is the best sauce for mushrooms, hehehe!

Anyway, I bet you're right, and it really needs more depth of flavor.
