decisions

I cooked ten recipes from Portuguese Home Cooking, but I'm still thinking about the book. One recipe was excellent and several were very good. However, I cooked a few that I wouldn't repeat.

I'm still deciding whether to:
* get rid of this book. After all, I didn't find ten worthwhile recipes.
* cook a few more recipes. Maybe I could find ten worthy recipes.
* keep the book, but move on to the next.
* put this book in a "maybe" pile, and make a decision after I've cooked from more books.

Keep a folder, and photocopy the "excellent" recipe and put it in. Then get rid of the book! If you stick to this you'll have a great distilled cookbook collection, with a "greatest hits" of the ones you got rid of. No regrets!

I thought of doing this, but I found in the past that I never cook from recipes printed off the net or cut from magazines. I think that (at least for now), I'll keep a "probably discard" pile. If I can find the favorite recipes in other cookbooks, then I can definitely discard Portuguese Home Cooking. If not, then whether I give the book a second chance depends on how many books I discard.
