"Blonde Bimbos on the Moon" hasn't found its home yet, but the most recent rejection included suggestions on how to improve it, along with encouragement to keep writing and submitting.

I have to think about the suggested improvements. But in the meantime, I should polish another story and get it out. I'm thinking of a rewrite of one of my Liberty Hall flashes ("Lizards and Blonde Ambition"). If I rewrite and polish soon, I can get it in the polish challenge, and get some feedback before sending it out.

The Polish Challenge is brilliant. I always get lots of ideas for strengthening my story there.

Also, the very fact that you have to leave it to sit for a couple of weeks means you get to have another read through of your own story with a fresh eye before you send it out. I always find that throws up something for me. What am I talking about? I always find that extra think means I turn my short stories into novellas. :)

"Lizards and Blonde Ambition" has gone to the polish challenge before, but that's when I realized a rewrite was in order, and not just a few last tweaks.

I'm glad you're getting encouragement, at least ... I know how damn hard it is to take when you just want to send back a message saying, "If you liked it, why not work with me on making it publishable?"

I did send a reply to ask if they would be interested in seeing the story if I rewrote per their suggestions. Yes, I can resubmit.

:D I figured. And that's good to know! I always find it a little disconcerting to get editorial advice (as much as it can be useful) from editors who then say, "But I don't want to see this story again ..."

So far, people who don't want to see it again, either send a form response - or say that they were entertained, but that it wasn't right for their publication and ask me to submit other pieces.

Fair enough. I just know I've gotten some really mixed messages from a few editors ...

But I'm glad you're still sending this out! I'd like to read it some time, if you don't mind ... not necessarily to provide any notes, just because it sounds cool. ;)
