The incredible shrinking novel

I'm still typing in edits of Mysterious Paris.... which includes much deleting of redundant and otherwise pointless text. So far, I've deleted much more than I've added.

Although it's good to get down to the essence of the story, I'm worried about the viability of this as a novel as it continues to shrink. I do an MS Word wordcount, and it's now at less than 48K words. Perhaps I should stop worrying and enjoy the ride. Manon and Thierry are about to go to a cafe (at last).

At least I'm still on track for completing these edits before November.

Well, at 48K it would be a novella, maybe sell it as part of a collection, with another story of the same length? It's better to have a short piece than an unnecessarily long one.

Unless as an ebook, I don't think I'd be able to sell a novella. I'll have to think about what to do when it's finished.... and will likely wait until I have some first readers for the entire work. (People have read the start, but not the entire piece.)
