Fixing the suck

No posting last night, because I was busy writing the new scene towards the end of Mysterious Paris, pulling an implausible conversation into a plausible setting (and fixing the dialogue). Also cleaned up the final scene.

Tonight's plan: fix the broken bits of the climax. Thierry has a cell phone, for God's sake, he's gonna use it - or at least try! What was I thinking when I wrote those scenes?!?

Yes, I'm trying to keep the momentum from the weekend and write daily.

I can't believe how dedicated you are to this. You really inspire me to finish my own novel.

My dedication is highly variable! Mysterious Paris = nano2003. If I had been consistently dedicated, I would have finished revisions much sooner. Instead, I've worked in fits and stops, usually with a big push in November (when so many people are writing furiously), and waning in the early spring.

If I had kept the small daily quota I gave myself at the start of the year, I would have completed revisions by the end of April! I was supposed to start querying agents in May.

Deadlines are a really big help. I saw an opportunity I'd love to take advantage of - but it requires completing the novel first. I don't want to say more about the potential opportunity yet, but it was a motivating factor in getting back to work seriously.

I hope you find your inspiration and motivation to finish your novel. I'm feeling much better now that I'm making serious progress.
