Mysteriously revising

Rewriting the scene worked better than any attempted revision. Then the next scene was completely useless, and turned out to be an almost exact duplicate of an earlier scene. An easy two pages to cross out. The following scene I ended up splitting and partially rewriting. Why did I think it was a good idea to start the scene in the next morning and almost immediately flashback to the evening?

I'm satisfied with the partially rewritten scene, but not completely with the revised remainder of that scene. It's not that amazing. But it's short and necessary to understand why the following scene happens (which is another critical scene). Maybe when I'm typing in my edits, I'll come up with some way to improve it.
