Short story progress

Or should I say: lack of progress? I didn't get very far today. Instead I spent a good chunk of the morning fixing my computer, and wasted too much other time on the net and playing We Love Katamari. Yes, we love katamari, but it's not like the game will roll off.

New words: 537
Total words: 1,730 / 4,500
Reason for stopping: it's late, plus I finished the bit that had to be written on the PC (involved look at one scene while writing another.... something I can't do on my Palm + keyboard).

Tomorrow afternoon and evening I'll be babysitting nephews and niece, so I better do some serious writing in the morning!

It's not Nanowrimo! There's no race. I hope you're enjoying the process.

Actually, there is a deadline. I'm writing for Subterranean Magazine's call for submissions for the special "Big Honkin' SF Cliche" issue. Submission deadline is November 1.

My goal is to finish a first draft this weekend, so I can send to some writing critique partners, and also have time to polish. However, it doesn't really have to be 4,500 words. The acceptable range is 3000 - 5000 words.
