Captain Alatriste

It's hard to review this book by Arturo Perez-Reverte. I loved the start and the end with the sword fights, a woman our of a Velasquez painting, the king of Spain, and other royalty. Swashbuckling, political, historical... yummm.

But a big chunk of the middle bored me. I contemplated not finishing the book. I skimmed. If you're familiar with Spanish poets from that time, perhaps that part will hold your interest.
