Farewell Digital Eve Toronto

Once upon a time, when Digital Eve Toronto was the Toronto Webgrrls, I became involved with the organization. I organized a panel for Career Day and moderated another. I joined the writers sig. I gave a presentation with Jen Vetterli about technical writing. I wrote a career column for the monthly newsletter. I taught introductory HTML / DreamWeaver classes. And, perhaps more importantly, I met other women involved in technology (calam1ty, baggyk, and others).

Today I received the final "Hot Flash", a message from the board that they are closing the chapter.

I feel sad, like it's the end of an era. But, really, I haven't been involved lately... and was only casually involved for the past few years. Would I have volunteered if there was one last call for volunteers? Would I have attended events or recommended classes if there were announcements that declining interest meant the end? Now I'll never know.

Farewell, Digital Eve Toronto. I'll miss you.
