Added more scenes to my plot outline

I worked a bit more on my novel today.

After I finished the first draft, I made a list of details I wanted to add or change in my novel. Today I read through the list and ended up adding a bunch of scenes to my plot outline.

I have very mixed feelings. On the one hand, the novel's plot is looking better, and I've now added in the red herrings and confusions to improve the mystery aspect. On the other hand, I now have to write 20 completely new scenes and do major changes to many other scenes. Aaaagh!

I think I also have to go through the plot outline at least a couple more times before I go back to writing. I have to make sure that all the new actions are completely played out (i.e. perhaps some additional scenes are required). Also, it's time to revisit my overall plot arc, to see what are really the major turning points, and whether they occur in the right places in the novel.

And what about the themes of my novel? Are they playing out well? I am keeping true to characterization... and character change? I'm feeling a little overwhelmed with how much there is left to do.

I think that there's a big difference between feeling overwhelmed and having mixed feelings. It sounds like you really know what you want to do or have to do, but it's just... a lot. But that's a good place to be! It means that you, to use the phrase, "have your work cut out for you." :)
